Willy Wans and Coneywarren area of the River Strule April 2018

As Secretary of Omagh Anglers Association I have been asked to make it known that the fishing rights in the  area known as the Willy Wans and Coneywarren area , left bank downstream , are OWNED not leased by Omagh Anglers Association. These rights were purchased by the Association along with other rights in that area in the1970s. With the fishing rights comes access rights.

Anyone caught fishing in this area without a valid Omagh Anglers permit will be liable for prosecution on the grounds of trespass on a Several Fishery and both Omagh Anglers bailiffs and Loughs Agency Officers will be authorised to check for valid Omagh Anglers Association permits.

Unfortunately a few  anglers are intent in  denying YOU fishing!

Fund raising 2018 season

Flybox handcrafted by D Spratt Newtownstewart

As a new season is getting closer , we wanted to tell you about our new fundraiser which began at the AGM on the 22nd Feb and will continue up until June . We have a lovely hand crafted wooden flybox made by D. Spratt from Newtownstewart and it contains 55 salmon flies including a new Anniversary Shrimp designed and tied by John Martin for the Associations 75th Anniversary. David Fulton and Joe MC Donald have also contributed to the salmon flies and at present we have enough for a first and second prize with CA Andersons donating a wooden Turrall box . This contains a further 20 salmon flies. Martin Tierney has donated a hand made wooden Priest that he made himself . All the proceeds for the prizes and I hope there will be a few more added in from further donations will go to two main Charities this year. We are going to contribute to the Air Ambulance NI and also to the Pallative Care ward in the Omagh Hospital. We have had great efforts over the last few years with donations being sent to Omagh Care for Cancer, Omagh Multiple Sclerosis Group, Omagh Downs Syndrome Support Group and the Arvalee Special Education School. Thank you for all the help over the last number of years in giving to these worthwhile causes and again many thanks to all the donations that we have received for the draws from all the fly tiers and tackle shops in the area.
Tickets are on sale from Andersons with a book of three at £5 or £2 each.
